Non-Traditional Student Scholarship Application
The Non-traditional Student Scholarship is intended to
provide college financial assistance to non-traditional men and women in the
pursuit of obtaining a Bachelaureate degree. Arkansas State University
understands the plight of these students and the varying degrees of hardship
that may be experienced while in college and is willing to become proactive in
their presence on our Jonesboro campus.
General Information
Non-Traditional Student Scholarships:
Scholarships totaling between $500 – $2000 will be made
annually to three qualified applicants. The size of the award will be determined
on the basis of an applicant’s financial need and scholastic achievement. The
award will be made directly to the university, and not to the individual
students.
Eligibility:
Eligibility criteria for the scholarships listed below vary.
Nontraditional Student Services Continuing Education Scholarship:
- In-state and out-state undergraduate students are
eligible.
- Must be pursing first undergraduate degree.
- Student must meet the criteria of being a
non-traditional student as set by Arkansas State University.
- Must show financial need.
- Must be enrolled and have successfully completed 12
semester hours.
- Must have a grade point average of a minimum of 2.5.
Nontraditional Student Services Incentive Grant:
1.
In-state and out-state undergraduate students are eligible
2.
Must be pursuing first undergraduate degree.
3.
Students must meet the criteria of being a non-traditional student as set
by Arkansas State University.
4.
Must show financial need.
5.
Must be enrolled and accumulated a minimum of 60 semester hours (can
not apply for both the continuing education and incentive scholarship).
6.
Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above.
Johnson Non-Traditional Minority Grant
1.
In-state undergraduate students are eligible
2.
Must be pursuing first undergraduate degree.
3.
Student must show financial need.
4.
Student must be classified as an upper classman (junior or senior)
5.
African American students majoring in Business, Education (post-secondary
teaching), or Psychology.
6.
Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above.

- A complete application form.
- A transcript of completed college work.
- An essay communicating your academic desire and reason
for continuing your education.
- A letter of recommendation from an instructor at the
current university.
